SAN MARINO OPEN 2008

The ultra consistent Alan Hanlon duly won the San Marino Open at Vallugola. A third successive round of 63 on a difficult course gave the Irishman a five shot win over Italy's Enrico Ciufarella, who closed with a 66. Enrico was San Marino Open runner-up for the second year in a row. Vanni Rastrelli finished third on 202. Alan Hanlon's victory was his third consecutive San Marino Open title and a fifth international open success for the hugely enthusiastic member of the Collinstown club in Westmeath.

For complete final scoreboard...

After thirty six holes at the sixth San Marino Open, a familiar name sits atop the leaderboard. It's a different course but the story that is unfolding is similar to past years. Ireland's Alan Hanlon, victor for the past two seasons at Cesenatico, carded two rounds of 63 at Vallugola to lead by two overnight. Enrico Ciufarella (Italy) is on 128 with another Italian Vanni Rastrelli on 131. With just a single round to play on Sunday morning, it looks to be between these three as no other player is within sixteen shots of the lead.
