IV IRISH OPEN

Eamon Gibney scored a final round of 46 to win the Irish Open at Glenville with a 54 hole aggregate of 25 under par 137. Eamon, who was third in the 2013 Catalan Open,finished three shots clear of fellow Irishman Liam O'Donovan. O'Donovan, winner of that 2013 Catalan event and no stranger to podium finishes in international opens, fired a phenomenal 43 final round to post a 140 total. Alan Hanlon, himself round in 43 in the second round, scored 50 on Sunday to finish third on 142. World Cup winner John Ross Crangle (45 final round), 2011 Irish Open winner Damien Fleming (46) and World Strokeplay champion John Walsh (48) tied on 18 under par.

Marian Byrne (Ireland) has won the ladies Irish Open by a shot from Tracey McGrath. Marian, who won the first ever Ladies International Open in Italy in 2000, closed with a final round of 53 for a six under par total of 156 for the three rounds. Tracey added a 54 to her Saturday efforts of 49 and 54. Margaret Hogan finished third.

Over 55's winner was Pacelli Darcy (Ireland) who scored 50 on Sunday for an overall 150 (-12), three clear of Ireland's Anthony Malone.

After the rain delay, 36 holes were finally completed at Glenville on Sunday morning. Eamon Gibney fired a second round of 46 to lead on 91, that's 17 under par. Eamon was but a single stroke clear of the most successful player in international open history, Alan Hanlon. Hanlon added a brilliant 43 to his opening 49, to lie on 92 with 18 holes to play.
