DUTCH OPEN 2009
Ireland's Ian Farrelly has now won more international opens than any other player. The Co. Meath native Farrelly carded a final round 49 to win the Dutch Open by four shots at Bussloo. Ian's 54 hole aggregate of 19 under par 143 left him clear of the fast finishing Patrick Luning (Holland) and another home player Ralf Kwant. Luning fired a fabulous final round of 44 to take second place from Kwant on the final 18. Ireland's James Carroll was round in 47 on Sunday to clinch fourth place.
Herma Kleinlugtenbeld (Holland) returned a one over total for the three rounds to win the ladies event by three from Liz Quinn (Ireland). Jeroen Huberts (Holland) was an impressive winner of the junior (under 16) open on even par while Paul Martin of Ireland shot 171 to take senior (over 55) laurels.
Ian Farelly who led overnight on 94 has now won six international opens, one more than fellow Irishman Alan Hanlon.
