WAYNE BOSLEY - Vision + golf balls.
Q1. Wayne, you and your father have been involved with the golf industry
for many years. Can you tell us a little about your background?
The Bosley family has been involved in the golf industry for over 50 years in Australia / New Zealand and Asia. In the early years with PGF-Australia and then as the National distributors for the Acushnet Co. (Brands include Titleist / Footjoy and Pinnacle) for over 20 years plus a 4 year Leadership consultancy in the early 2000’s.
Our responsibility was for the establishment and distribution of those brands plus the key leadership development work with Australia’s and New Zealand’s touring professionals and elite amateur female and male players of all ages. Many of those players are currently playing internationally today.
Q2. Can you tell us about your Vision concept or project?
This project was originally based on developing a true game improvement ball for social and club players. As we believe the ball you play has an enormous effect on the way you play , your enjoyment of the game and your overall development as a player and as a person. Play a better game and you will be a happier person.
Q3. You first became aware of APPA when you were testing balls at the Terrey Hills course - indeed some of your literature features photos of that course.
What is the attraction for Vision with testing at Terrey Hills?
We use the Terrey Hills P&P course for testing all our prototypes models as 50% of the scores of club and social golfers are determined by what they do from 80 metres and closer to the green plus on the green. The facilities are excellent and the greens and surrounds are consistently in great condition for accurate live play test results in relation to feel/spin/stopping ability and putting attributes. We also like to support this type of course and P&P in general as it is the right way to introduce people in a more casual environment to the game of golf plus the great benefit of the short time it takes to play a round compared to the full game.

Q4. You have just released the Vision - X-pert˛ ball which has proved very popular
with elite Pitch and Putt players in Australia during trials.
What are the X-pert˛'s features, and do you expect it to be available in other markets?
As you know Eero, we quietly seeded the X˛ ball with both elite P&P players plus a group of leading Senior Australian amateur representative players to gauge their reaction to the ball in competition in the two forms of the game that we are currently interested in. The Elite Senior amateurs are a great resource for us as their games are highly developed and they have played through the many advancements in ball design. Having also played golf for most of their lives they have played with everything from wound balata balls to the latest multilayer hi-tech products used on tour today.
The initial results have been so overwhelming positive with the general comment being how much they loved them and the belief that they are one of the most exciting ball designs they have played in years.
Q5. Can our international readers purchase the the X-pert˛ ball and do
you have a website?
We now have an information website in English up and running www.visiongolfball.com and yes we are able to make product available both here and overseas with a designated retail web shop being opened in the last quarter of this year. Current product inquiries should be emailed to my e - commerce partner at sales@image-on.com.au attention : Alex or Angela.
Q6. Recently you had some new prototype development balls produced by hand at your partner companies Fantom’s main Asian plant. Can you tell us about this process, the testing and what market these balls will be aimed at?
As part of Bozgolf-Australia’s ongoing R&D program we are continually working on improvements to the Vision™ balls colour, feel and durability through the introduction of new materials and manufacturing processes. We were really excited after testing our latest samples as we believe these balls would make an ideal pitch and putt ball for all player types.
Q7. At the moment, APPA is considering a deal that will see Vision become
an official licensed ball for Australian Pitch and Putt and you are also
supporting the National Development Squad. Are you looking to enter
other international pitch and putt markets with your products?
Our initial work with the APPA will obviously help us understand the industry and sport better and if all goes to plan we would hope to then expand on this relationship with FIPPA and other National associations.
Q8. At the end of the year the pitch and putt world's focus will shift to
Australia, when part of the Triple Crown is to be held at the Terrey Hills course in Sydney, Australia. Are you planning to be involved in the Triple Crown on the whole plus take the opportunity to showcase your products at the Terrey Hills course?
This is a wonderful opportunity for the APPA and the Terrey Hills P&P course in particular to demonstrate to the general public and social golfers how exciting this golf format really is both technically and socially. With our support of the National Squad these Triple Crown events will provide a wonderful showcase of our Australian developed Vision™ balls. We are also looking at helping out in other ways to make these initial events as successful as possible.
Thanks for your time Wayne, is there anything else you would like to tell our readers?
Thank you Eero for your time and interest in our products and we look forward to a closer working relationship with the APPA and the other affiliated Pitch and Putt organisations in the years head.
Vision™ - Our Passion, Our Dreams, Your Success. Enjoy!
