2010 European Team Championship
The PPUI has finalised the Ireland team for the September showpiece at Lloret Papulus.
Irish Matchplay champion Chris Scannell (Collins) and Eddie Carey (St. Bridget's), who won a play-off for the Irish Strokeplay championship on July 25th, have been selected as wildcards to join the four players decided via the 72 hole trial at Hillview, Clonmel on June 25th. John Walsh (Collins), who lost the play-off to Carey on July 25th, totally dominated the trial, firing a phenomenal 38 under par four round aggregate of 178. He finished eleven ahead of Ray Murphy (Templebreedy). Kieran Dunscombe (St. Anne's) and Liam Sheridan (Stackallen) join their illustrious colleagues on the trip to Catalonia for the VI championship, scheduled for September 24-26. John Walsh will captain the Ireland team, which will be managed by Eamonn Birchall, assisted by Niall Reynolds. The complete team profile is:
