ITALIAN OPEN 2007 - youth shines in local affair!

For the third and final year, the Italian Pitch & Putt Open was held in the beautiful "Centanni" complex In Bagno a Ripoli, on the outskirts of Florence on 2-3 June 2007. Players from a dozen clubs from all over Italy attended and there were six players from France. The Centanni complex is ideal for this kind of event, set in the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside. The Open was played over 54 holes, with the best performers from Saturday's two rounds teeing off last on Sunday. The course was in excellent condition, as the green-keeper had spent the previous week preparing for the event. The elevated greens were true but quite hard and only the best players succeeded in pitching them regularly, without rolling off down one of the sloping sides. Good chipping skills are at a premium on this course.
