Course of the Month - Gualta, Catalonia.

Within the Empordà region, birthplace of the Catalan painter Salvador Dalí, we discover the Gualta course, a marvellous pitch & putt offering. Founded in December of 1999, the course consists of 18 holes set amid pine and riverside trees. Located in the centre of the Costa Brava neighbouring the historic village of Torroella de Montgrí, the course offers the possibility of enjoying pitch & putt throughout the whole year.

The lengths of the holes vary between 43 and 116 metres. Each hole consists of two different tees in order to make the course attractive to beginners as well as experienced players. The course is characterised by large greens and wide fairways. There are many testing hazards, 3 lakes and 6 bunkers convert the round in to a testing challenge for any good player, whereever he comes from. Of the 18 holes, 11 are within the woods and 7 are type "links", an attractive mixture which makes the course specially enjoyable to play.

The complex includes a driving range of 250 meters, 22 partly covered and illuminated tee positions, putting- and approach green as well as a practice bunker. A team of professionals are available to help in learning or improving our swing. Contrary to other courses, at the Pitch & Putt Gualta there is neither need for a membership nor a federation license. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend the attendance of a beginners course or 6 hours of lessons before playing the first round of golf. The installations also include a Clubhouse situated in the centre of the course providing facilities such as dressing rooms, a Pro Shop and a Bar-Restaurant.

Gualta was open in December 1999 surrounding an existing small forest which has been kept and protected, thus many little animals have settled and are living among the players: ducks, squirrels, eagles, weasels,and foxes.

In February 2005, Gualta was the venue for the Catalonia vs Great Britain match, which was won by the British team in a sudden death point after an absolute draw. Gualta has been also venue for many championships of the Catalan Pitch & Putt Federation.
